So I don’t give too much away, I will just put the number correct next to the posters name.

Lamar Mundane: 5
zev_steinhardt: 5½ +2/3
Diomedes: 6
ZipperJJ: 14½ correct but one wrong one was an optional, but a great alternative.
indent You did great, even using a lookup. In fact, I designed this quiz, knowing people would use whatever tools were available. There are 5 questions I did not know until I wrote this up today.

Great start guys.

Jim

For saving me from having to weasel out of a typo…

You are paid up for an extra year.

Thank you,
Jim

I recently re-watched (for the 4th time!) *Ken Burns’ Baseball *and was thinking about doing something like this with trivia from the series. Except I didn’t think of it until halfway through the series and all the fun “old timey” trivia had passed. A handful of your questions, though, I remember from that show. What an awesome documentary

I loved that series, it got me through that horrible strike year. I need to throw that on my Netflix Queue too.

I have not read any other post in this thread.

  1. Give two World Series years where every game was played in the same stadium.

I’d guess 1906 and 1921.

  1. Who was the first black player in the American League?
    indent a. Which Team?
indent b. What Year was it?

Larry Doby, Cleveland, 1947.

  1. Which team was the last to integrate?
indent a. Who was the player?
indent b. What Year was it?

Boston REd Sox; Pumpsie Green, in 1959.

  1. Now name the first black player in Major league Baseball history

This depends on what you define as being “Major League Baseball.” The first player is sometimes cited as being Moses Fleetwood Walker; he played for Toledo, but in the old American Association, which doesn’t exist anymore. I guess it was sort of a major league. The first to play in the major leagues as we now define them - the National or American Leagues - was Jackie Robinson, with Brooklyn in 1947.

  1. Who holds the record for most home runs hit at Yankee Stadium by an opposing player?

I’d guess Ted Williams.

  1. What was Joseph Michael Medwick nickname?

“Ducky,” which he absolutely hated.

  1. Who was called the “The Human Vacuum Cleaner”?

Brooks Robinson.

  1. Name the initial class of the Hall of Fame.

Ruth, Cobb, Wagner, Mathewson and Johnson.

  1. As of 2007, who has the second most Gold Gloves as a pitcher?

Jim Kaat, since Greg Maddux just won #17.

  1. Who was the only announcer in baseball history traded for a player?

To be honest I thought this happened more than once. I know Ernie Harwell was.

  1. There is a major but now obscure baseball controversy surrounding the inventor of the curveball. Please name the two men that are the leading candidates for this honor?

Candy Cummings and, uh…

  1. Who was the last player to play a game of major league baseball that played a game in the 1800s?

Hmm.

  1. Who surrendered the most Homers to “The Babe”?

Huh.

  1. Who was the A’s leadoff hitter for the last 3 times that Connie Mack won?
indent a. What was his nickname?

Max Bishop, aka Camera Ete.

  1. What Major League team still in existence was called the Bridegrooms?

The Dodgers.

  1. What two players won the 3rd Chalmers Award?

I know Ty Cobb was not one of them.

  1. Under the Win Shares system, who was the best second baseman of all-time?

If I’m not mistaken it’s Eddie Collins.

  1. How did Joseph Jerome McGinnity earn his famous nickname?

He was called “Iron Man” for pitching an astonishing number of innings.

  1. What person has received the most World Series Shares in baseball history?

I don’t even understand the question, really, but I’ll say Casey Stengel, and his nickname was The Ol’ Perfessor.

BTW, I didn’t look anything up. I assumed that was against the rules.

RickJay: 12.5

#19 means who has got the most World Series Rings, but I was afraid that would be taken too literally and went with shares instead.

Neither was Floyd “Sugarbear” Rayford, the answer to another baseball trivia question.

Wow! Thanks
