Cubs

Tigers picked up Freddy Garcia and put Sheffield on wavers.

Sheffield on waivers? I don’t see it in any news story? On the Tigers website, he’s still listed as part of the active roster. Seems like they’re looking to call up Garcia when rosters expand in September.

There are revocable waivers. Tigers can pull him back if they want. It will be interesting to see if anyone claims him. I’m guessing no one does.

I wonder if the Mets are that desperate for offense. I think he still has one more big contract year to go, if so that should scare the Mets off.

My bigger concern is I don’t actually think he is healthy enough to play the outfield every day.

That was my concern the last year he was a Yankee. I didn’t think he was then and Detroit agrees to my knowledge.

Sheff hit 2 homers yesterday. good timing.

How sad, considering Sheff’s temper and tendencies for nuttiness… I can’t be 100% sure that you mean homeruns when you say “homers”

::scans Detroit press for the beating of two men named Homer::

Kidding!
(kinda)

The Red Sox - Rangers game last night was, um, interesting. Love the offense, the lack of pitching is rather ominous.

Sounds like Owings is one the to be named players in the deal, which makes it much more palatable.

Cubs.

Yeah, I don’t like that too much. But, I still don’t know what kind of player Micah Owings is. If he doesn’t work out as a pitcher, he could become the next Ankiel.
But, life is good. Nothing better than getting off work, listening to a D-backs day game when they win, and having a 3 day weekend!

Brag brag…we aren’t going away any time soon, it would seem. I am still incredibly impressed by the Dodgers managing a four-game sweep of anyone, let alone a good team.

I’m still really nervous about taking on Milwaukee this weekend, but our pitching has really done a good job of keeping us in games lately.

Oh, and dalej42, you gotta let me know if you’re ever in the area, especially if the D-Backs are in town. I suspect we’d have a blast.

Cubs.

The correct response is Go Cubs Go!

For your viewing pleasure Hey Lou Piniella

The Cubs are showing me that they just might do it this year, I’m still cautiously optimistic. I think I’ll go barbecue a goat.

Cubs. I believe. I hope.

Rejoice all yee Yankee haters, things are looking bleak. Injury after injury and Mo can’t seem to hold a tied game this year.

:frowning:

I will. I love LA, so I’m sure I will come out there often. I’m hoping to go to the Sunday night game on 8/31 in Phoenix. Too bad the last series is over Labor Day Weekend and I’ll be in San Francisco that weekend.

But, at least spring training is a lot closer for you now!
