Why do the NBA players have a little black strip sewed onto the top of one side of their jerseys? Is it memorializing Wilt still? From an old protest? Seems to me I’ve seen a few players that don’t have it, but most do.

It isn’t player specific to have those patches, it is generally team specific. Example, the Hornets for Bobby Philss, and if I’m not mistaken the Blazers have it for Bill Musselman. I’m sure my Twolves will have em for Malik Sealy when the season rolls back around.
Okay, so what about the Lakers, Blazers, Pacers and Knicks?
Lakers - Wilt Chamberlain
Blazers - Bill Musselman
The Knicks and Pacers don’t appear to be wearing any black bands in photos I’ve seen on the web.
