Has anyone one heard of this and is anyone planning to go to this? I saw the video, and it looks fascinating…in a trainwrecky sort of way. Bat-link.
I scrolled through the creative team just to see if Jim Steinman was involved- he had had a Batman stage show in development hell for years. Nope. He’s not part of it.
I don’t think I’d like the show, but from the brief glimpse in the clips I think I’d be happy to be a used and forgotten Backstage Betty for Harley Quinn.
It reminds me of an episode of Batman Beyond where they have Batman: The (stage) Musical (where the opening number is pretty much a copy of the opening of Batman: The Animated Series). As I recall, Bruce Wayne walked out in the middle of it - he’d probably do the same here.
Alfred, on the other hand, would sit through the whole thing taking copious notes, then spend the next two weeks ribbing him about it.
It starts it’s US tour in about a week. I got tickets for it for myself and my son(6) back in April and we see the show on Sept.15th.
From youtube videos and UK reviews it’s definately geared towards the kids. A mixed media show with smoke, lights, pyrotechnics, massive video screen, live costumed cast on ropes and wires, etc.
There really hasn’t been much advertising for it all summer and I only became aware of it from a banner ad on a local news channels website back in April. And that was only up for about a day. I finally saw some TV ads this morning.
My son loves the Lego Batman games and knows all the bad guys from there so I think this will be right up his alley.
Reminds me of the old Six Flags Batman stunt show.
I’d think about it if Cirque were doing it, but it doesn’t look appealing from the promo material.
