Batman Return of the Dark Knight Part 1 & 2

Hi,

I am new to these forums and was wondering what everyone thought of these straight to dvd animated movies, I was bored over the weekend so I decided to sit down and watch some DC Comics Animations, I wasn’t expecting much since I am not really a huge fan of Animations anyway but I was pleasantly suprised by how good these flicks were I enjoyed them much more than I did Christopher Nolans Live Action Batman Movies.

I’d recommend to anyone that they watch these movies the Animations are a bit cheap and could do with a bigger budget but the storylines, voice acting, action is all there as expected and even more so in these than the actual Live Action movies.

So I’ve dedicated this weeks free time to watching DC comics animated movies. lol and wasting time on here I just subscribed after reading a bit on the 1000 ways to die tv show which my girlfriend made me sit through and within a few minutes I was convinced it was bs.

I’ve yet to see these particular films, but overall I’d take any of Bruce Timm’s animated works over any live-action version of Batman.

I liked the second Dark Knight movie more than the first, but then, I liked the latter part of the Dark Knight comics more as well. They stayed pretty faithful to the source material, not shying away from the violence of the series. Peter Weller’s gravelly voice plays well as the old, bitter Batman. They, I think, didn’t make Superman QUITE as bad as he was in the graphic novel. Most or all of what he did is in the movie, but he seemed less self-righteous, and more like a guy doing a job who has given in to inevitability. That might be just my recollection of the GN, or my perception of the movies.

Well, I watched them, and they’re very good interpretations of the graphic novels.

But since I didn’t really like the graphic novels, it’s kind of a wash.
Overall, though, it’s extremely difficult to portray Batman (or Superman, for that matter) in live action and not have it look silly. I’ve no objection to stylish animation aimed at adults for a suitable replacement.

Marvel seems to have found a successful formula in the recent Avengers (and related) films, possibly by a careful mix of humour at how the premise is cool but also kind of ridiculous.
