So Indiana public schools are deciding to screw my poor mom over and they are no longer allowed coffee makers in their classrooms because they (among other devices) “use too much energy when plugged in”.
Rumor has it that there is a battery operated one, but I can’t seem to find it, and google isn’t helping me either. So I ask the dopernation…do any of you know of a battery operated coffee maker that I can buy, and where I might be able to buy it?
Any help would be appreciated!
I can’t imagine one that would work. Coffee makers use a lot of energy because they’re running a heating element. A battery operated one would require a very heavy duty battery to make even a single pot, and you’d have to recharge the battery every day just to get the one pot made. Maybe you could get one to work off of a car battery. Here’s one. It only takes 45 minutes to brew a pot.
What she needs is a big thermal carafe or a pump pot fill it in the morning with 2 quarts of coffee, and have hot coffee at least until lunch.
What about a French Press? I’m guessing they’ll have hot water available in the teacher’s lounge?
