Battle of Los Angeles (1942)

I’m watching 1941, and I thought I’d check a couple of things on Wiki. I found this:

and a Japanese submarine which made it past the U.S. defences and torpedoed a line of docks in Los Angeles.[sup][citation needed][/sup]

Everyone knows about the shelling of the oil refinery and the ‘air raid’ in which guns were fired at an unidentified flying object or objects. But this is the first time I’ve heard any claim that docks were torpedoed. Is the author conflating the refinery shelling and the miniature submarine(s) that got into Pearl Harbor?
