Battlefield 2: Is there some secret to this game? How can I get better at it?

I suggest getting Battlefield 2142. It has a similar system of Commander/Squad leaders, etc but there were many improvements made. There are lots of unlocks for your kits, and tons of gameplay elements that encourage teamwork, so there are less people acting like smacktards.

One of my favorite things about BF 2142 is that the aircraft are HEAVILY nerfed. There is only a gunship and an air transport, no bombers/jets, and the gunship is very balanced in my opinion. There is also Titan mode, which is a lot of fun. Definitely check it out!

My username on BF2142 is JakkardPanzer, btw.

What with the in game advertisments and such? I’ve heard a lot against it, so I’m hesitant on getting the game.

In various maps, there are propiganda posters for both factions. In addition to this, there are billboards (looking rather similar to real-life highway billboards) with the in-game ads. I hardly notice them, personally. In fact, I didn’t even notice one until a month into playing the game- and it was for a processor cooling unit (the motto being something like, “Stay cool in the heat of battle” honestly I assumed it was an ad for deodorant. But seriously, the ads don’t really bother me- they’re not that intrusive.

Any like, spyware problems?

Some tips for Medic…

[ul]
[li]SPAM THOSE MEDPACKS!!! Just toss them everywhere.[/li][li]Toss them, don’t hold them.[/li][li]Heal yourself every chance you get.[/li][li]Don’t go too far out of your way to revive. If someone close to you dies, revive them, but your going to run out of time running half way across the map to try to revive someone. Even then you’ll likely die in the process too.[/li][li]Upgrade to the next level gun (36E?) ASAP. It’s right on the money.[/li][/ul]

/Haven’t played in a while. Wondering if I should patch and dust off my copy. Are all the noobs off to 2024?

Be patient. Successful shooting is mostly based on surprise and position, rather than pure aiming skills. If you see an enemy run by, don’t start shooting. Track him for a bit, duck down, steady your aim, THEN fire in short bursts. If you fire too soon you’ll likely miss and your enemy will whip around and nail you while you’re busy reloading.

Make sure you identify your enemy BEFORE you start firing. Sure, that extra second you take will cost you a few deaths while you get used to the uniform colors, but it’s very embarrassing when you kill your own teammate.

I would only recommend Battlefield 2142 if you prefer a little more futuristic combat, if you’re looking for more modern-day combat Battlefield 2 still plays fine.

No, I’m not interested in futuristic combat at all. I downloaded the 2142 demo long ago and I get the impression that all the environments are grayish and covered in ice. This is NOT what I want to be looking at while playing. BF2 seems way more easy on the eyes in terms of the color palette.

I don’t know what the aircraft were like in earlier games, but the person in the gunship can still be god if they’re good enough. I prefer the transport, myself; better handling and once you get the hang of it, easier to fly tree-level for protection.

Only tip I can give is if you’re driving a vehicle as Spec Ops, stick a couple of C4 on there before you go on your merry way. That way, if some sneaky person decides to take it when you’re out capturing a flag…explosive fun!

On BF2142 i’m shadeedge.
