BBC Experts: Early Detective Show? (Shown In USA)

I vaguely remember a British TV show-it was shown in the US in the late 1950’s/early 1960’s.
All I remember is that it was about a pair of London Police detectives-one was an older guy who looked a bit like Basil Rathbone, and a younger guy who looked Anglo-Indian.
That is all I remember.

Are you sure it was a BBC show? The description of the characters’ appearance makes me think of Department S, but it doesn’t seem to fit otherwise.

Yikes! No idea. Before I was born, which doesn’t help. I could tell you plenty about 70s British cop shows, though!
