Whatever happened to the good 'ole days of the BBS? I miss them. Any of them still around? If so, what do they got?
What happened? Er. Well, the internet happened, that’s what happened.
I used to run a BBS, from 1991 till 1995 or so. (I.e. when the Internet really started catching on.) It was great fun! Still have a lot of friends that I met through that BBS.
I think there are still some BBS’s around, but needless to say they’ve lost a lot of users to the Internet. I don’t know how much the format has changed. The silly games and message boards are probably still there, but I’d say the file transfer boards and the days of upload-download ratios are probably long gone.
