Be brave with me: Let's watch Point Pleasant!

No.

I thought it was just another excuse to show hot young bods. I was bored.

My husband, notsomuch.

I notice that sometimes, I think they feel they have to put that apostrophe. Sometimes when they talk about Al Leiter they spell it Tom’s (his birthplace). Btw, happen to catch the AI girl’s name? I missed that part, maybe I knew her ;).

Hey, with the Kevin Smith movies, Jersey Shore is coming back!

Found it – Melissa Considine.

Anyway, back to Point Pleasant.

What they really need to do is to drop all the hypersexed subplots (or hell, at least cut back on them), and give us more evil, damnit! Stick to the real plot please, folks.

Basically, if this show were not such a hot topic locally, it’s not too likely I’d be giving it more than one more week. Hopefully it’ll hit a groove soon, but I’m not keeping my hopes up for that happening.

Same thing for me. If it wasn’t about Point Pleasant, New Jersey, I wouldn’t have been watching. Then again, there was NOTHING on TV tonight, so who knows.

I agree with ratcheding up the evil stuff. We already have an O.C. Don’t need another one.

Oh, and thanks for finding the name. Unfortunetly, I got no clue who she is, though the last name sounds familiar for some reason.

Oh, it’s craptastically delicious! Seriously, I watched both episodes, all excited both times to see Marti Noxon’s name all over it, and both times I kept asking myself “did Marti write all the crappy BtVS episodes or what?”

Wellll…

Okay, it’s not that bad. She did write “The Wish” and “The Prom,” after, all. However, she is held responsible by a lot of Buffy fans (myself included) as a big part of why seasons six and seven (and to a lesser extent, five) sucked so much.

Suffice it to say, I wouldn’t tune into any series that Marti Noxon had a part in because I thought it was going to be good.

That said, I did watch the second episode of Point Pleasant, and found it delightfully awful. So I’ll continue to tune in. Assuming they keep showing the two lifeguards without their shirts on, that is.

Buffy S6 is at least tied for the best season of that show. Noxon wrote some of the most powerful early episodes (not only the ones shy mentioned but the incredible “I Only Have Eyes For You” and “Wild at Heart”). All the suckiness of Point Pleasant I’d tend to blame either on her collaborators or on Fox, because she’s proven that she’s got chops.

test… last try didn’t work.

I liked how that guy told the woman she looked old. It was so f’n mean, and she looks f’n great. He’s an ass, but I’m not sure how great a villian he’ll be considering Satangirl has all the powers.

Yeah, I’ll probably keep watching, but I hope they don’t keep it on Thurs. I like North Shore better.

Well great… I typed a very long and thoughful “coming out” post for my first one.

Totally gone.
To sum up.

Noxon- Not good, only competent.

Ben Edlund- Good

Point Pleasant- Not good because of Noxon’s usual focus on angst and not snappy dialogue and post-modern winks. And obvious network meddling.

I think you’d be hard pressed to find more than a handful of Buffy fans that consider season 6 (the Noxon year) one of the BEST seasons.
