This might seem like a trivial question, but I’ve always wondered:
When you see people boarding up storefronts, and such, at the beaches in preparation for a hurricane, what exactly are they nailing into? Do beach properties all have wood frames, properly spaced apart to accomodate 4’x8’ plywood boards? Or, are they turning their facades into swiss cheese - the lesser of all evils - to be repaired later? - Jinx
well, this week we’re putting up pre-sized sheets of plywood whose edges correspond to the outside edge of the window trim.
We screw it right into and through the trim and worry about the little holes later.
And , yes, a great preponderance of beach houses have wood frames, silly!
A house can easily handle a bunch of little holes in the sheathing/ siding. You just have to remember to patch them.
Most folks around here have their plywood stashed away for this kind of event and they’re numbered, etc.
