Now this is the kind of news I like.
I’m really impressed by the sturdiness of that pool–the “mom” probably weighs a couple hundred pounds. I wouldn’t be surprised if the manufacturer has been in contact with the family asking to use that video in a commercial or something.
Yeah I saw that too ! I bet the cubs asked their mom if they could go back to that cool summer camp next year too ! This was on the news tonight . It’s a great video .
And the mama bear has a tag in her ear.
Beary flop!
Bears are everywhere in NJ. Here’s one strolling down busy Bloomfield Avenue recently.
It would make a great commercial! Alternate between a mom and 5 little kids, and that family of bears - at the pool.
blondebear, please stop reading my mind–I have so few thoughts in there already! BTW, good post/username combo.
Tamerlane, thanks for explaining to JcWoman while I was otherwise occupied. If you type “Bruiser Bear” into YouTube, there are several videos of Mr. Syrian Bear and his owners at their Melrose, Florida wild animal sanctuary. Just fascinating.
Did you see how fast Bruiser Bear ran up that ladder the second time?
Reminds me of a story I saw recently about a bear cub letting itself into a condo by way of the cat door.
No way do they pee in the pool, right? Cause that’d be disgusting. Bear piss.
A friend from Maine some years ago rendered a batch of bear fat into a hard thick paste for a few of his friends to weather proof their biker leathers. It was maybe 1993 or so, leathers are still good and I still have enough to last to my end days.
Thanks “T”, that is some really good stuff.
The homeowners thought they’d be safe by installing the pool, opting for it instead of the decorative wildebeest carcass which they knew would draw in hyenas.
Food is the biggest factor in determining litter size, and the average number of cubs is two or three. I am guessing that area must have a lot of food for the mother, to have such a large number successfully, else nature would eliminate all but two or three.
I was also impressed by how strong the pool was. I am pretty sure the video will make the owners enough cash to buy another pool. The problem is future proofing their house, now that the bears know it is “resort property.”
Do bears that hang out in people-populated areas become somewhat tame? How do Mama Bear and the Cubs react to having people around? Are they aggressive and hostile, or do they mostly just ignore nearby people? (I don’t imagine that they’d actually get people-friendly.)
This just in:
Grizzly Bear Rolls Down Hill like a Great, Big, Deadly Kid:
That is too much! Get the impression that wasn’t the first time he’s done that?
The damn bears never shower before using the pool. That’s why most country clubs don’t allow them as members.
Wait, is that a racist comment?
Have you SEEN the towels when they’re through with them?
