While it is almost a modern clichee to photograph the withered faces of rugged sea men and farmers and old russian grandmothers, I still find these pictures very powerful.
I don’t know much about art or photography. Heck, I can’t tell if those are drawn or photographed. I DO, however know that style is cliche (like you said).

In this case though, its exploitative arty farty bullshit.
I think they were lovely. Sometimes things are cliché because they are good, and i guess this is an example of that.

I think they are wonderful. It’s like you can really look folks in the eye and get a sense of them. Some sorrowful, some gleeful, some just exhausted.
