Beck is having a bad, bad, bad telephone experience.(actual talking)

The Orange Menace will be the savoir of all of you.

Goddamn Ford product. Cheap as shit, but the color is nice.

No train today, though. Went off the rails.

Extreme rural areas often get electrical service restored much later.

The crews start with the main trunk lines, than the feeder lines into subdivisions and so on. They’re trying to fix the majority of outages quickly.

A line running through the woods that supplies a few houses gets fixed later.

I’m glad Beck’s family has a generator. Lights,a hot plate, and a tv make outages more bearable. My little Honda generator got me through a 8 day outage. Constantly refilling it with gas was a hassle. I upgraded to a Generac whole house, natural gas generator. The little Honda went to deer camp.

No power yet.
You’re right Acey, I’m the only house out here. I’m always last. I get my electricity from a co-op. They are notoriously slooooowwww! We’re doing fine with the generators. All except internet service :smack:

Hey, Beck - I’ll PM you my phone number if you want to try out your fancy new phone line. I’ve talked to and/or met other Dopers and am still arguably somewhat sane.

=====beck’s still in the dark=====

First off: Thx OW. Very nice of you.

Yay! It’s my turn again. I took a picture of one power strip on my table. It had something like 10 devices plugged into it. Why do we need all these things? I have to keep my diabetic phone charged. The rest is for entertainment.
Kids are having fun on the worlds most stoopidist playgym. Happy for that.

Son-of-a-wrek is cooking fish in the deck.
So food is forthcoming.

My cat’s are perturbed. No laundry being done. So the dryer is cold and unwelcoming!
Poor kitty cats. I gave an extra treat. Didn’t help.

The weather is nice and sunny but coolish.

I miss TV. Anybody got news to tell me about the Virus? I feel like most of the world is deceased and I just don’t know it yet. I saw a plane flyover awhile ago. So I guess someone is alive.

I miss my Dope time. I haz a sad :frowning:

b. living in flyover country.

Dupe post

I’m still alive, Beck!

– I’m also living in a place that would be one of the last to get power back on if a major storm brought the lines down all over, including on this road. They would, quite sensibly, fix about everybody else before they got to a road with only three houses on it.

I don’t have a generator. I do, however, have a wood stove, and a hand pump on a backup well for potable water, and a lot of battery-run lights, and a solar recharger for the hotspot-included phone and the ipad. In warm weather, after a couple of days the freezers would become a problem; they’re in an unheated back hall, so in cold weather they’re no problem either.

Bekkers,

You are cordially invited to our place in AZ. Bring the Meezers to chase away the meeses. We’ve got solar with backup propane generator. If that gets confuzzled, there’s a gas generator in the shed. The house has all modern conveniences, including DirecTV and HughesNet.

I have no idea whatsoever when we’ll be back out there.

Enjoy the waterbed!

----------late breaking news-----------

Wait for it.
Don’t beg!
My electricity is back on. As soon as I could I turned TV on. Nothing on worth watching.:smack:

We’ve already washed 2 loads of clothes. Siamese cats are in dryer heaven.

All the denizens are happy for their internet connections.

I’m happy they’ve all shut up griping.

Now back to my routine of wasting time posting on the Dope. Aren’t you all happy to hear it? (I heard that snickering…hush!)

b. 'I’M BACK!!

I’m quite happy our local power company has gotten quite aggressive on tree trimming. When my mom first moved here 11 years ago, outages were common. This storm, despite 70 mph gusts, and lots of branches down, no outages.
