Beckdawrecks bad, bad, bad bomb. ( or, why did my world blow up?)

He always wanted to be whiter. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, crap. My thread title is wrong and now a egregious typo.

Mama Plant hailed from Tennessee. I might move over there. Just for a while, see aunts and stuff.

Yep. I’m laying low.

c’s the day

Nice job.

A similar explosion took place in Roseberg Oregonin 1959. My wife was a child living outside Roseberg at the time. There’s supposed to be laws now about transporting large amounts of ammonium nitrate.

With all the other explosions mentioned I am surprised that nobody has yet brought up the 1947 Texas City explosion, which did indeed start with ammonium nitrate. The article here says it was the largest non-nuclear industrial explosion recorded. My father once mentioned seeing this disaster on movie newsreels.

There are, this isn’t the best website, but do a text search for ‘ammonium nitrate.’ It’s a class 5.1 hazardous material. I don’t my hazmat reg book handy, but when I get a chance to grab it I can summarize.

I’ve not read anything about how far the truck was blown by the explosion.

They said pieces were found a mile away. Keep in mind this is just ‘talk’ going around. I have no proof.
BTW, wasn’t the Oklahoma Federal building blown up with fertilizer?

Yes, it was. I didn’t see any debris in any pictures. I see the crater is filled and blacktopped. I thought they couldn’t lay that stuff unless the weather was hot.

Yep I hear it’s passable now. They’ll probably have to redo it later. It’s a patch job right now. I’m driving down there to take pics. I’ll see if I figure out how to show them here.
Mr.Wrekker saw the site the evening of. And he said junk was laying everywhere and there was lots of ash.

Cool, Beckdawreck, thanks.

Did they check it for diamonds first?

They don’t bother. Highway 62 in Cotter, AR is graded with small ones. Pain in the ass, they get stuck in tire treads. Makes an awful noise on the freeway.

I was not thinking so much that was a highway but that there was a crater.

Crater of Diamonds state park. It didn’t make money as a commercial diamond mine, just those damn tire stickers. It operates as a park for people to hunt for the big ones.

Yeah, buddy we have the diamonds.

We tried to steal some a couple times, but they were too well hidden.
