Beer expiration date?

Yeah, there’s a subset of home brewers who believe that you should usually just cellar beer that you don’t like that you’ve bottled with some yeast in them. In that view, it will eventually cycle its way to something you like much better. Personally, I’ve seen beers that I saw as unsuccessful both get much better and much worse by hanging on to them.

But high abv brews bottled with yeast? They almost always get better. Around 2013 I found a store that had a couple of cases of Real Ale’s Sisyphus barley wine (same style as TH) that was bottled between 2007 and 2008. I bought and drank it over the course of a couple of years while they shuffled it out on the shelf. It was majestic, and it is to my shame that I wasn’t able to cellar and forget some of them as you have with some of the Thomas Hardy’s. I remember it from that era, if you ever decide to sell, PM me please (but know, they will be drunk before I get much older). :beers:
