Beetle in Bullitt

Does anyone remember the chase scene (Ford Mustang after Dodge Charger) in the movie Bullitt through the streets of San Francisco where there are at least 3 or 4 times where the cars pass a green Beetle. Is this the same Beetle over and over again? If so, was it the result of poor editing?

Also, anyone notice how when the Charger slams into the gas tanks there is an explosion but the car sneaks off to safety over the left of the screen and yet is still in the thick of the fire when it the scene changes to a close-up?

Just for the fun of it, count the number of hubcaps the Charger loses, too.

Yes, yes, and possibly–but I think it was edited that way to draw out the chase scene. It’s obvious it’s the same section of the chase viewed from opposing angles. I always want to say, “And here’s the instant replay, folks…”

Actually I never noticed a second Charger; does that mean they faked their own death?

Talking about 60’s film flubs, ever seen The Naked Prey? My dad pointed out that in one scene you can see a car driving behind some trees in the background–but the main character is supposed to be far away from any form of modern civilization. It’s not easy to see on a small screen, though.
