Alrighty…My girlfriend wants a book about quilting for her birthday. She’s never done quilting in the past, and rather than blindly pick some book backed up by a nice description on amazon.com, I would like to ask you, the quilters of the teeming millions, for recommendations. Any suggestions?
I think the best one that I’ve read and used is “Quilts, Quilts, Quilts” by Diana McClun & Laura Nownes. This is an excellent beginner quilting book.
In my spare time my second job & love is professional machine quilting. I developed my love of quilting with this book and a class at my local quilt shop.
I have since spent many thousands of dollars on fabric, tools, cutters, sewing and quilting machines - just a little friendly warning
I think you may have a winner. I asked my mom, a professional quilter, for her recommendation, and after thinking for a moment, came up with “Quilts, Quilts, Quilts” as well.
As I type this, though, she tells me that Kaffe Fassett’s “Glorious Patchwork” is even better.
