Bei'g sigk sugks

How 'boud thad for a self-evident thread title? Negxt ub: the shogking revelation that it’s bad to hurd kittens.

Addyway: Th’ last few days I’ve had a horrible co’binadion of allergies, a bad code (coughi’g sneezi’g, an sinuses, etc) and since this mording a double-barreled two-dostril on-and-off dosebleed (caused by sneezi’g).

This sugks.

I feel mis’rable, I’m habing drouble breathing through by dose (I can breath through by mouth ok) and everytibe I sneeze, by dosebleed stards again. I think by pillow is ruined.

By stomach hurds, by head hurds and I just wanna whine. Th’ worst pard is that I habe to go to worgk toborrow (had to go today too) begause ad th’ moment, I’b the only one who has access to set thi’gs up each day (I pland to change dis quigkly once I’m bagk). Lugkily I can leave as soon as I do, so I ondly hab to be there for an hour or two.

I was deber ad athiest, bud if I was, this would convince me to becobe a deist: there’s do way I could feel this crappy by aggsidend…id had to be planned…probably by somethi’g malevolent.

Fugk you cold viruses! Fugk you allergies! Fugk you weak inner nostril walls!

Thang you.

PS Just to forstall th’ inebitable comment: Yes. I know people with cancer, AIDS, etc. hab it worse. I still feel ligk shit.

Oh, and since I’m a mom, I can officially offer this:

Here, let me kiss it and make it feel better…

And I’ll make you a big hot cuppa peppermint tea- supposed to be good for colds. And I’ll lend you a couple cats to curl up next to you and purr comfortingly. That always makes me feel better :).

But what if he is allergic to the CATS?

Damn, and I thought I was sick. Though this goddamned sinus infection isn’t exactly pleasant…

Feel better, man. Sorry about having to go to work and all, but if it makes you feel any better, I’m laughing my ass off at the realist approach to your rant. Definitely a 10.

Jester Thang you! Ad I share your pain: by sinuses are glogged ub too. It sugks.

Fedris, mighd I suggess a nice, looooooooong, hot shower?

The steam will do wonders for your chest congestion, and for your sinuses. Two or three a day is fine (though you might want to use a little lotion afterwards if your skin dries easily).

Allergies have a nasty habit of changing, so if your congestion lingers for a while you might want to get tested. Don’t worry that you might be allergic to cats, because even if you are there are now shots available. A friend of mine took them and now has no trouble with his two, which his children adored so much that if he got rid of the cats the kids would probably go, too (some might not view this as a disadvantage…)

Now, for the engineers on the board: what we need is a nice vacuum cleaner attachment that would hook to the nostrils. The key limitation is that it would have to suck snot only, while leaving other stuff (eyeballs, ptuitary glands, etc.) in place. Submit designs to my e-mail address.

Ick. Been there, done that, used up a rainforest’s worth of Kleenex.

I prescribe warm homemade chocolate chip cookies. Lots of them. Followed by a nap (cats optional).

And here I thought you were complaining about someone’s sig…

Hey man, get well soon… It’s never good when one of the most creative, lucid, sprightly minds of the SDMB is all clogged up…

Suck it up!

Not literally, though.

I feel for ya buddy.

Every year about Jan. or Feb. I get the ‘cold that will not leave.’

[ul]I drink lots and lots of liquids - fruit juice and just plain water.

I take decongestants to keep the little buggers from forting up in my sinuses. Sometimes Neo-Sinepherine(sp), but not if you’re having nose bleeds.

To keep them (the germs) from establishing a beachhead in my chest, my wife insists that I gargle with hot salt water. I find that letting a nice single-malt Irish Whiskey trickle down my throat has the same effect, and improves my mood considerably. (Wicked headaches, though)

Sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.[/ul]

Remember, an untreated cold lasts about seven days, treated, it lasts about a week.

Get better soon.

Heh, me too.

Dude, I’m sick too. 'Cept I don’t have a cold. I’ve been puking up a thick, green, foamy ooze not terribly different from the stuff that made the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For the past week and a half. When your stomach hurts so bad you can’t breathe and all you’re good for is sitting in a tiny ball, hugging your knees and rocking back and forth, let me know.

Feel better.

I’m sick, too.

It’s really hellish 'cause I can’t sleep (even when I take Tylenol PM) and this is the last 2 weeks of the semester, so I have crazy tests and essay going on that I should be working on 24/7.

sigh Sucks to be me.
