Being a particularly trashy Doctor Who question, of especial interest to straight women and gay men

For me the question comes down to Eleven/Smith or Jack/Barrowman. If we were talking about the characters, I’d go with Captain Jack (the Doctor probably wouldn’t want to, considering how he reacted when Amy hit on him). Since it’s the actors, I picked Matt Smith (John Barrowman definitely wouldn’t want to, since I’m a chick). I’m possibly overthinking this, but at least it works as a tiebreaker!

Cap’n Jack is hot.

Tennant is OK except he’s too thin for my tastes, I’d be afraid of either snapping him like a twig or injuring myself on a protruding bone.

Matt Smith is young enough to be offspring of myself, and that adds a squick factor I’m not sure I could overcome. Jail bait, in other words.

You don’t go back NEAR far enough.

For me it will always be the Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, from the third and fourth Doctors.

Just once I’d like to meet an alien menace that wasn’t immune to bullets!

I would go for Rory because he’s the only one who seems like a real person; his character is very lovable and loyal, and he really is quite a dish in his own way.

My choice as well. He’s just a total doll.

John Barrowman and his partner (who’s also very hot) were at DragonCon (the sci-fi convention in Atlanta this year), and he actually turns me off in person. He’s certainly hot, and he couldn’t be friendlier with his fans and it’s clear he loves being worshipped (who woudln’t?), but there’s something very very fake about him.
OTOH, his biceps aren’t among the fake things; boy is crazy toned.

Meaning no disrespect to the character or the actor, as somebody who hasn’t seen any of the pre-Eccleston episodes, his death, mentioned in The Wedding of River Song, was really confusing. I was assuming that the character had some significance in the plotline since they had recalled many other characters from the preceding season, and I’d just forgotten who it was and I was wondering "is this cat really dead or in a crystalis and about to turn into an alien tiger-mouse, or is it really a murder, or… what exactly is the point of a nurse saying “He died peacefully just now”?
Later learned of coursse that it was an homage to the actor who had just died, so a nice gesture from Moffatt or whoever the writer was, but a clumsy one; I’d have just had his picture in a frame at the end.

River Song seems to have found one or two who fit that description, sweetie.
I could almost go straight for her for a moment or two.

He claims that he’s bi. Whether that’s true or not shrug.

Gotta be Doc 9. Love Eccleston anyway and his Doctor is still my favorite. Never found Barrowman or Captain Jack enticing. Neither the actor or the character are my type at all. Docs 10 & 11 are too boyish for my tastes as well.

While I have no interest in John Simm’s Master, I loved his character in “The Devil’s Whore” and would gladly have done him.

Missing from the list - Derek Jacobi’s Master. I had a thing for Mr. Jacobi for more than two decades and he has aged very well. If he had been included in the poll it would have been a much tougher choice.

Off-topic - for anyone else who likes Eccleston and Jacobi, you really ought to see “Revenger’s Tragedy”. In fact, I need to see it again.

Captain Jack. I love all of the Captain Jacks (Captain Jack Sparrow, and Captain Jack from Master and Commander).

Close second is David Tennant.

Eleven isn’t even remotely close.

I actually find him sexier post-60 than when he was much younger.

Barrowman’s as camp as a row of pink tents.

Gay since aged 9: BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | Why is John Barrowman gay?

I would have gone with Jack as he is characterized on Doctor Who. In Torchwood he couldn’t have turned me any further off.

So, Tennant.

I haven’t been able to take him seriously at anything since I saw a video of him singing I, Don Quixote from ‘Man of La Mancha’. It rivals John Davidson singing Cats in the Cradle for the “cheesiest non-tongue-in-cheek lounge version of a song I’ve ever seen by a very successful entertainer”. This is whatever is two cities down from Branson theater worthy.

He’s “gold-star gay” (never had PIV with a girl) but claims that he did a lot of fooling around with a girlfriend back in HS, and he’s been known to make out with chicks…

sigh

But yeah. If I could be the filling in a Jack - and - Nine sammich, I would not object in the least. Jack/Nine/Rose is basically my OT3, in any combination.

Huh, so I didn’t post this, judging by the username…

Anyway, since we’d be play-acting and all (actors doing their best in-character acting since Doctors - not to mention The Master - are dangerous to be around), I’ll have to give Captain Jack a pass since Barrowman’s almost definitely more fond of men, and angle for Doctor #9. #10 isn’t bad, and going back a ways (time travel time!), Sergeant Benton was easy on the eyes.

I voted ‘Other’ for McGann’s Eight and Anthony Ainley’s master.

I didn’t vote in the poll because I’m a hetero male and have no interest in … you know. But I logged in to say that Captain Jack is one beautiful human being. I wouldn’t want to do him, but I could gaze at him like a work of art.

(At least as of 5 years ago. I assume he’s still perfect, but I don’t watch Torchwood.)

I knew I’d be in the minority, but I’m also surprised at just how far in the minority I am! Anyway, for me it’s Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor all the way. He’s a bit gangly and dorky, but that’s what I like. What a cutie pie!

Captain Jack and David Tennant are pretty cute too, in their own ways, but nothing even close to what I think when I look at Matt. I love that shy, reluctant thing too. “Let me convince you, Doctor:smiley:

Oh, and as far as ones that aren’t on the list, my number one is James Corden’s guest role. Mmmm…James Corden…

Tennant. Hell, I even had that particular kind of dream one night.

David Tennant remains the only celebrity I’ve ever had a romantic dream about, so I’ll have to go with the tenth Doctor. However, Rory is a very, very close second; if you asked my conscious brain, I might even go with him. But dreams don’t lie.

I did have the hugest crush on John Simm after “Life on Mars”, but that doesn’t really translate to the Master.
