What is the story with this? I have heard a number of stories of women who are pregnant but still have their monthly period. Why does this happen and how common is it?
This does not happen. Someone is lying abour something.
Yes it does happen. I bled right on time for the first three months before my son was born. It obviously isn’t a regular period, but some bleeding is certainly possible and not that uncommon.

Besides the things listed in yojimboguy’s link, there are cases like my mother. She found it frightening that she bleed every month during her entire pregnancy with my brother, but found out years later that she has a large (uterian?) cyst that has its own cycle. Talk about unpleasant…
