Can anyone refer me to a really good biography of the actor Bela Lugosi?
Art Lennig’s The Immortal Count: The Life and Films of Bela Lugosi (UKY, 2003).
By “anyone,” you did mean “Eve,” right?
Maybe.
Funny that The Immortal County should be mentioned, as I just finished reading it. The nice thing about this biography is that Arthur Lennig is both a lifelong fan of Lugosi (he met the actor a couple of times when he was a boy, and the book includes his photos of them), and a professor of film studies, so the writing is both appreciative and scholarly.
The Immortal Count, of course.
I actually have not read it—does Lennig quote my favoerite Lugosi monologue, from Bride of the Monster?
