I have, it was fascinating, much of it is historical, excepting the parts that are not.
It’s one of my favorite series; I’ve re-read it repeatedly.
I’ve read it a few times. I liked it. Eric Flint’s writing style grates on me a little though - everyone spends a bit too much time congratulating themselves on their own cleverness.
Try “The General” series too: The General series - Wikipedia. Also plotted by David Drake, but written primarily by Steve Stirling. It’s an SF/after civilization’s fall series that’s based on the actual battles Belisarius fought.
