Just an FYI. The contract is set to expire on 8/5 at midnight. Not only will BA be affected, but so will most of the subsidiaries including Verizon. I thought something like this would be a major news maker, but I haven’t seen anything on the news yet. I realize that two people & a dog have to get hit by a run away bus driven by a cross-dressing x-postal worker before FOX consoders anything newsworthy, but still this is a major public utility here.
Drain, you work for Verizon and you didn’t know that you’re going to be walking a picket line on Sunday? Are you unionized? Were you assimilated into the collective from the core company like I was? One of the gripes is that some of Verizon’s employees aren’t unionized (see details below), so maybe you’ll be able to keep working during a strike. I’ll be walking in front of 1200 H Street on Tuesday, so don’t forget to honk in support!
Falcon, you probably won’t be affected unless there are mysterious, sudden outages occurring around, oh, say midnight Saturday.
(Walks away whistling…)
Here is the NY Times article on the bargaining issues. Several people I gave this link to were unable to get there, so here is the text:

**Moderator’s Notes:**Goddammit, do not paste entire articles that protected by a copyright unless you have written permission of the owner(s). Small portions used to illustrate a point are accpetable; links are preferred. I don’t care that others have had trouble with your links, don’t do this again. You’re gonna get us in trouble. How would you feel if, say Snopes, just C&P’ed Cecil’s archives to their site?
