Bellsouth? HA! More like Ballsouth (a minor phone rant)

I called Bellsouth last month to see how much it would cost to have my number unlisted ($4.50/month!!! which is insane on its own). I told the guy that was too much and told him I didn’t want it.

Three days later I get a card in the mail from Bellsouth thanking me for adding the no listing service to my account!!

I called them and asked why did they send the card. I explained that I only inquired about the overlypriced service, but chose not to add it. The CSR said that I did. She took the charge off right away.

Yesterday I get my usual email notification for my new bill (I pay it online). The charge and reversal are there, but now they’ve added a $9.95 charge for changing my account!

Yes, Bellsouth, you have a nice set of balls on you, but it’s rude to show them to me in this way.

I called today and had THAT charge removed.

Sheez, the nerve of these clowns!

As for the $4.50 PER MONTH charge: WTF? All you are going to have to do is turn on a recording that says my number isn’t available to whomever asks for it. It couldn’t possibly be any more complex than the recording that gives out my number.

Nice scam you have going there, but I won’t be a party to it.

So, what is your phone number? I [sub]for a reasonable fee[/sub] won’t tell anyone.

I think the reason they bill you so much is to recover the revenue lost by people not being able to call your number. Just a stab.

Huh?

Is Bellsouth giving these people a share of my $9.95?

Bell South sucks. My mother tried to get DSL service from them but when we set up the modem, it didn’t work. She called several times and each time they told us something different was wrong. Actually about half the time they told her nothing was wrong and that it should be working, and to call back the next day if it wasn’t. Finally after about two weeks she gave up and shipped back the modem. Then they charged us a $1.50 for using their service even though it never worked!

Maybe I don’t get it, but if people pay per call (like cell phone users), and they aren’t able to call you because of the unlisted number then I would imagine that the phone co. might lose a buck or two.

I’m no expert…lol
