So do I, when I remember to have them handy - Tums (or the generic). I just didn’t make the connection to DSeid’s mention of the stuff earlier. D’oh!
In fact I have been known to take them specifically as a calcium supplement.
An interesting side note on Prilosec: when you stop or reduce the dosage, you can have a rebound effect where your acid is worse than when you started (or increased) the dose. A couple years back, the doctor had me on a quadruple dose of it for a bit (for what turned out to be something completely unrelated to stomach issues). I had to decrease the dosage gradually - and supplement with Tums - over a period of several weeks because each time I removed a tablet from the daily regimen, I got heartburn from hell . Then things would settle down, and I’d wait a week or two and remove another tablet from the regimen.
