You know, as I recall, he still hasn’t admitted that’s goofy.
The day the report came out, someone forwarded one of those chain emails to me. Some former soldier wrote a poem (Awww…The Troops!) about Benghazi. Besides being absolute wretched poetry (rhyming Benghazi with paparazzi is unforgivable), it speaks of calls for reinforcements going unanswered. People who believe this shit don’t give a flying fuck in a rolling donut hole about facts. There were no assets in the region that could have been deployed in time to prevent these deaths. That’s indisputable to anyone with multiple brain cells. One could very well make the argument that relations with Libya were normalized prematurely or that the ambassador shouldn’t have left Tripoli or that we shouldn’t have opened up consulates yet- those are all things reasonable people could discuss and disagree on. Instead we have these wild ass stories of how Hillary and Obama watched the whole thing unfold on live television and that they gleefully refused military assistance that would have saved the day. If you’re convinced of this shit, no amount of facts are going to penetrate your dense skull.
This committee didn’t fully investigate allegations that Clinton Chief of Staff Huma Abedin, a Muslim and possible sleeper ISIL agent (nothing has disproven that yet), had ANOTHER non-official email account with its servers located in Democrat California. The name of the email server isn’t clear yet, but there are allegations it is something like allahuakbar.com, jihad.com, yahoo.com, or lalalalalalala.com, all of which sound like Muslim words.
We simply have to have a congressional investigation to get to the bottom of this!
Unfortunately, the average American voter will only remember that she was investigated, not that the investigation failed to find anything, and the fact that they didn’t find anything won’t stop trump from bringing it up over and over again on the campaign trail, so in the end it probably served its purpose.
On another note, I’ve heard that the two year investigation cost around $9 million. While everything costs money, it would seem that this really just required some travel expenses for witnesses, and some staffers to interview people and pore over documents/emails. Any idea what they spent the 9 million on? I’d feel better if this money at least acted as some form of economic stimulus for the US economy.
Staff salaries of 5.8 million dollars. (Through March 31st.) Cite.
But wait…
Benghazi! didn’t work (nine times).
EmailGate isn’t working.
Now we have AirportGate! (As in Republican Air Flight 114, now leaving Sanity from Gate 23…)
Is there a Congressional committee handy to investigate?
And with Operation Fast & Furious too. Not to mention the Birth Certificate.
She’s an ambitious female and those types must be stamped out. How dare she!?
Then why do Republicans support Sarah Palin?
They just want her to talk and look pretty. No more running for office for her!
Did they? I saw a lot of support in the Religious Right, but not the party in general.
But I’d say it was because her bumbling was disarming. And she conformed more to traditional gender roles. She only projected strength in the maternal sense. And she was going for second fiddle rather than first.
I’d amend the previous statement to say that the problem is a smart, nakedly ambitious woman with strong feminist tendencies.
Though I admit she could help with that if she had better charisma. Palin had that in spades.
is anyone surprised that nothing came outta this spectacular waste of taxpayer money?
I am a bit surprised, thought at least they would find some ambiguity that they could exaggerate into suspicion and inflate to conviction. Which means that Ms. Clinton is either:
a) The most cunning and devious criminal mastermind evah!, half Moriarity, half E. Stavro Blofeld.
or
b) she has gotten so used to walking around with a Republican’s nose up her butt, she has adapted accordingly and avoids even the least problem. Throw in the e-mails, and you’re still looking at…what? Twenty five years of failed snipe hunts?
Shouldn’t we have come to that conclusion in 1979?
How? We have embassies damn near everywhere, what steps do we take to be in a position to defend all of them, at any time? Well, don’t defend the ones in “safe” countries? Then won’t ISIS attack them instead?
Got a nickel the Amb. Stevens knew the risks he was taking. But its a diplomatic standard that the embassy depends for its security on the country it is assigned to. It is assumed that the government of that country is responsible and competent. One thing you don’t say is “No embassy for you, you can’t be trusted…” Looked at that way, Amb Stevens took a calculated risk in order to bolster the still coagulating Libyan government, flattering them, in a way.
Diplomats serve and protect their country just as soldiers do. Main difference being, they can’t shoot back.
He definitely knew what he was doing. Almost all of the rest of the staff was evacuated.
Just saw a Bengazi ad on MSNBC/Rachel Maddow show! Surprised they’d put it there.
I have never heard a conservative or liberal give a convincing reason as to why the Obama administration wouldn’t want to send military assistance. There is no one who has something to gain from military assistance being withheld.
It makes it sound like the Abilene Paradox: It’s in no one’s interest for military assistance to not arrive.
The reason doesn’t *have *to be convincing, to those who are already convinced. It merely has to be consistent with Barry Hussein Soetoro and Hitlery being fundamentally evil.
