If this were true, I think it would be legit to call him out for having the entire CIA apparently be completely paralyzed unless Patraeus is personally on the phone making every call? That’d be an exceptionally ineffective way to run a huge international agency, wouldn’t it?

Supervisor on ground: “I don’t know. I guess we should call our boss…ring ring…Hi boss, everyone is being attacked, what do we do?”
Supervisor’s supervisor: “Hmmmm…good question. I’ll call my boss”
…some time later…
Supervisor’s supervisor’s supervisor’s supervisor: “Hey boss, shit is going down in Libya. Should we do something?”

Someone else “Yeah. Sucks there is only one person in all of America who can make decisions to respond to an attack on American interests. I guess we didn’t think that through very well.”
I get the sense that some people feel like if they just say “Benghazi” enough times, it will trigger an automatic do-over of the election and this time Romney gets to win.
Fucking ridiculous. Petreaus is a lifer to the bone. Civilians, turds are tapered, lifers like him, turds are clipped square.
Sure, he’ll stick himself in the wrong honey pot, you betcha. But put himself where he cannot be reached to make the command decision? Without being sure that some else is deputized to make that decision if he can’t be found?
Nope.
Here’s a rule about scandals:
If you can’t articulate what the hell someone did wrong, it’s not a scandal.
Honestly, I cannot for the life of me get a straight story on what the scandal here is supposed to be. Is is that Obama didn’t call it terrorism? Is it that they knew the attack was coming? Is it that they didn’t know, but should have? Is it that they thought it was due to some video but it wasn’t? Just what exactly is the scandal?
Well, all of that, of course! And if any of it is proven untrue, then all the rest!
The scandal is that Obama and everyone else KNEW that there was no protest, that the video had nothing to do with anything, but for some reason when they first started talking about it, they mentioned the video as a possibility that sparked a protest that might have gotten out of hand and led to the attack.
The people who are calling it a scandal are saying that there were plenty of eye witnesses at the event that the President and others had access to at the time, and before any announcements, ruled out the protest/video at all. So it is puzzling that Obama or whoever would float that as a possibility.
It is true that he never came out and claimed that it was a protest that got out of hand, sparked by the video. Just that it was a possibility.
Then you get into arguments about how they had requested extra security and got denied, someone dropped the ball, it was a snafu from the beginning, etc.
To be honest, there are some puzzling things about it, and when Obama went on the Daily show he kind of dodged the questions and spun his answers, and it seemed obvious to me that Obama knew he screwed up a bit. But anyway, like I said, there is a molehill there, but the right has basically just turned it into a mountain.
And, of course, “Ghazi” is another word for latrine. It’s all starting to congeal!

On the other hand, missile attacks on Labia are fairly popular.
