Benifits of Rollerblading

Hello. We just saw a thread relating to the benifits of jogging on ones legs. I love rollerblading. What are the benifits for those of us that prefer wheels? Is it actually good exercise if done at a good pace?

SnowDog

It tightens the gluteals, for one.

Skaters have nice asses, and big calves. Also, cool road rashes to show off.

It is easier on the knees and ankles than jogging, unless you are into agressive stunts such as skating down stairs. There is no law against skating and drinking, plus you can bar-hop faster on skates. Even if the bars are a few miles away. Compared to biking, it is easier on the lower back, as well as the nut-sack, and you don’t have to lock and leave them.

BTW, “in-line skating” is a more appropriate term. “Rollerblade” is a brand name.

Benefits include skinned knees, elbows & chins  Come to think of though, I never see really fat skaters.

According to the International In-line Skating Association, the sport’s governing body, recreational skating has the same aerobic benefit as jogging with only half the stress impact to the knees.

That’s what they told us at instructor certification.

So how does it compare to bicycles in terms of knee impact?
