Bert. I’d probably end up bludgeoning Ernie to death with his rubber duck after listening to that little annoying laugh of his a few hundred times…
I’m definitely the Bert to my best friend’s Ernie, though I’d like to think I’m less of a Bert when we’re not hanging out together.
This thread title makes me laugh.
I vote Ernie… for no reason in particular. It must be Bert’s involvement with the Taliban that unnerves me so.
Ernie-it was Henson’s voice.
I understand that Bert used to have a Hitler-type mustache in some of the earlier episodes of Sesame Street. I’ve always liked Ernie, cuz he’s a smart ass.
I’m not to clear on what the question is, but the answer is probably Ernie.
BTW, as a minor hijack, did Henson “borrow” these characters from the old Bert & Harry Piel beer commercials?
I like Ernie, I always rspected cab drivers… but cops are good too.
Bert. Yeah, Ernie may be the fun-loving one, but an evening of listening to him playing the drums while I try to get to sleep, and I’d toss him in the bark chipper. Sadly, I would probably torture Bert the same way Ernie does.
Hm… Imagine That…
Bert.
My mother still cites this as evidence for my being a weird kid–she says you’re supposed to like Ernie. Eh, whatever.
Ernie to hang out with, Bert to help me plot to take over the world.
Frank Faylen and Ward Bond are Ernie the taxi driver and Bert the cop, respectively in “It’s A Wonderful Life” w/ James Stewart.
I’ve always liked Ward Bond, he was in a lot of old westerns.
So, I guess Bert is my choice.
As far as Sesame Street goes it wasn’t around when I was a kid. But one of my little brothers would watch and the other would cry. He didn’t like muppets or talking dolls, kinda like Chucky I guess.
From what I do recall, Ernie seemed to be laid back, while Bert was just anal. ie: “The Odd Couple”
Ernie is obnoxious and has an irritating laugh; Bert is just too humorless and anal. I can’t say I cared for either one of them, or for any of the other characters on Sesame Street–with the possible exception of Oscar the Grouch. He lived in the garbage and was mad at the world and I could relate to that.
