Besides "Lovin' You"- pop songs where the sings hits a really high note?

Elizabeth Fraser.

Goodbye Stranger - Supertramp

Dolly Parton.

Cyndi Lauper-- Money Changes Everything (and others)

Dolly really didn’t have a high note in her original version. Whitney Houston is the one that made it up that high in her cover for the movie “The Bodyguard”

Minnie Ripperton in 10cc’s version of “Respect”

Who’s Whitney Houston?

Agree, its far superior, much better vibe, yet it only hit #70 on the pop charts!

KISS MY ASS!

I think the lyrics probably hindered it, what with her asking “will you come inside me?” and stuff like that.

I thought Dolly’s whole version of it was overall higher than Whitney’s. Whitney’s big note wasn’t crazy high. (She may have been, but the note wasn’t.)

Oddball Queen Fact!

The truly high notes on Bohemian Rhapsody (and a lot of the other stuff) is done by Roger Taylor, the singing drummer. For a guy who wore his testosterone on his sleeve he has the ability to hit higher notes than just about anyone.

Example: The ‘galileo’ bit in BR. Deep notes: Freddie. High notes: Roger.

Philip Bailey used to hit some great high notes back in the Earth, Wind, and Fire days.

RR

So is nobody going to mention Joe Cocker and You Are So Beautiful?

We were talking about tortured canine utterances? Or high notes?

Well, it was high for Joe, right?

It’s not pop music by any means, but King Diamond of Mercyful Fate has quite an impressive vocal range for a male voice.

More Than a Feeling, by Boston (Brad Delp)

Anything from Journey.

Rickie Lee Jones has some great high and low end ------- just an incredible range really.

For high male vocals, the bridge from Radiohead’s “Creep” gets up there. So does Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge”.
