The country charts, as was pointed out by Smapti in 1944’s poll, wasn’t yet referred to as “country”; instead, it was known as the Most Played Juke Box Folk Records chart.
So, which tune makes you tap your feet (or do you otherwise enjoy) the most?
This is also the first year where the wonderful genre Western Swing really (REALLY) dominates. And I think, unlike with the 1944 poll, most people won’t be scratching their heads while looking at/listening to the songs on this list, RE: how the hell are these songs country (or even folk)?
