Whoa. Yikes. Hold on.
Did people actually read to the bottom third of the pole? Because the greatest Michael Jackson track ever is up there, but it’s beaten by Blondie and freaking My Sharona.
You guys are nuts.

That’s my favorite Michael Jackson song as well (followed by the similarly grooved “Gotta Be Starting Something”). I came very close to voting for it, but in terms of commercial and cultural impact it’s so overwhelmed by the 1982 Thriller bombshell that it felt wrong somehow. Bad decision on my part, perhaps. It’s a great song, and there was no way for the world (nor MJ himself) to know what was coming soon.
Voted for Good Times because it’s Chic and it was the musical backbone to the song which really sent my 7th-grade class in a tizzy, Rapper’s Delight by the Sugarhill Gang (also released in 1979.)
Looking back, “Heart of Glass” is definitely the best on the list, but I remember hearing “Reunited” all over the place.
Sharona is head and shoulders above the rest of the pack on this list.
Did it feel so good?
