Best #1 single of the year retrospective: 2004

So, it has to be either Outkast or Snoop Dogg/Farrell, and “Drop It Like It’s Hot” pretty well runs circles around the rest of this list, Outkast included.

“Drop It Like It’s Hot” was Pharrell’s biggest hit to which his name was attached (until “Happy”, anyway), but he’s done a lot of stuff behind the scenes - he had a few hip-hop hits as a member of the group N.E.R.D., and as a member of the Neptunes he did production work for some of Britney Spears’ and Jay-Z’s biggest hits.

Just wanted to add: And I thought pop music went to shit in the seventies?

Ah, great. I’ve wanted to ask that for some time, actually.

I’m withholding my vote (temporarily?) because the only song I recognize is Yeah! and it really isn’t good.

I voted for “Yeah!” because it’s the only song I recognize and it has a permanent spot on my mp3 player.

Thanks! Didn’t change the number of songs I knew from the list, as it turns out.

I wonder what will happen for 1991…there is a tie for that year right now. Maybe a play-in round to break that tie?
