What’s the best adhesive/epoxy to bond phenolic?
I’m working on my lawn mower (in another thread), and when I pulled a cover off (the fan housing), a broken piece of phenolic plastic fell onto the floor. It’s part of the carburetor heat shield that hangs between the engine’s cylinder and the carb’s float bowl.
Will JB Weld do the job? I found (from web surfing) that Devcon Duco cement is good, but I want to add a good amount of extra* strengthening material* to the repair, in addition to simply fusing the broken pieces back in place. Also, I already have JB Weld.
In case you want to see what I’m repairing, here are photos and parts diagrams (p/n 16073).
I supposed this could be IMHO territory, though surely there is a specific class of adhesives that would be objectively categorized as “the best” for the job.
