The Lighthorsemen
With 13 polls we actually include more in the top 100 than if we’d just done the top 5 in each. It’s just shy of 4 from each poll on average that continues on into the second round (but with the ability to be number 6 0r 7 in a subpoll that’s strong.) I really do think this way does better at rank ordering the very best with less seeding effect. There’s always issues at the margin. This way 51-100 still get an honorable mention by making that Top 100. That gets a mention for some that would otherwise have been excluded from moving on.
I have thought about using a odd/even position in the top 50 for the two second round polls. It effectively balances the field between the two polls.
Off to make 20 sock accounts to stuff the ballot box against Hurt Locker. 
Tank Girl made it, and Gettysburg didn’t?

I searched for “The Eagle Has Landed” but couldn’t find it anywhere on this list. It’s always been a personal favorite. Is it not eligible for your list?
Also, “Ride with the Devil”. Some may say it’s more a Western or the US Civil war doesn’t count. But it was pretty decent nonetheless.

Tank Girl was a terrible film. Unless you are under ten years old. Little kiddies may enjoy some parts of it. But, I wold have renamed Tank Girl and called it Stank Girl.
(Blush.) Actually, I kinda liked Tank Girl. It was a fun, dumb, action-adventure fantasy movie. It stayed pretty close to the comics.
It just wasn’t a war movie, and, even if you tried to argue it was, it wasn’t in any way a good war movie.

How did I miss “No Man’s Land” during nominations. :smack: I probably wouldn’t have voted for it in it’s time period and the overflow train has left the station. I doubt enough have seen it for it to get many votes. I’m not opposed to bringing it up just to be difficult. 
Thanks for that recommendation. It’s one I hadn’t seen but it just made the list of “I should see that” that this effort has created.
That actually made the 80s poll. I nominated it. It’s only got two votes so far. Get to the Delorean and head to the 80s poll.
If my calculator isn’t funning me, the Top Five from 13 polls only gets us to 65. To get 100 titles from 13 polls we need the TOP EIGHT from each (104).
I do like the idea of the odd-even approach for splitting the Big Stack into Two Polls needed to address comfortable voting of those 100. Good idea.
Once the voting in the individual polls has tapered off even more – (I just checked them and nothing has changed since I last sorted all of them into one stack based on the individual threads’ percentages of total) – I’ll do another all-in-one stack to see if that approach is as fair as the Top Eight per thread will be. We can decide at that time.
In my view, some periods have produced more Top 100 (or 120) War Movies than other periods. It would be artificial fairness if we punished some of the big ones for the sake of the little ones by grabbing the Top Eight from each poll regardless.
We can look at both methods and decide which makes a better approach. There may be an even better method we haven’t thought of yet.
