I believe they’re in South Carolina. I could be wrong, but I’ve heard that they produce more peaches than Georgia. I prefer nectarines, anyway, no fuzz. Nyah nyah.
Let’s just hope they don’t copy the licence plates. Do you know how embarassed I am driving around with a SONG LYRIC on my license plate? It’s just STUPID.
People always get Hawaii and Texas. They usually want to answer “California”, but the “Bear Flag Republic” lasted less than a month, and never really established itself as a functioning government, and hardly controlled all of Alta California. Many people don’t know that Vermont was hanging out on its own for 14 years following the Revolution, and actually functioned as a self-governing entity called The Republic of Vermont:
The flag of Alabama is much more likely to be mistaken for that of Florida than that of Mississippi.
Nope. Not at the time of annexation, anyway. In 1893, the Queen was arrested, a provisional government was formed, and the country applied for annexation to the United States. Unimpressed with the actions of the American businessmen who had engineered the coup, the US demurred, and a Republic was formed. At the outbreak of the Spanish-American War in 1898, William McKinley reconsidered the American position, and Hawaii shortly became a US territory.
Please go back and read my post again. Bad News Baboon had stated that the shape of Texas was the most recognizable of all the states and that possibly California was in second place. I disagreed and said that… well go and read it.
Me, too; I think South Carolina’s flag is great. I do agree that Maryland’s should be in the top 5; it is a very distinctive design and completely unique.
I lived in Maryland for many years and was glad to see it make the tops - but one that I’ve always liked is Tennessee, which handily meets the site’s qualifications.
