Best bang for the buck sunglass warranty available

Did you leave off a zero there? The sunglasses I buy run upward of $200 and they are not prescription. Just good. I take care of them.

The sunglass brand mentioned in the OP seems to retail its products at about $60 for a pair. But they come with a warranty that allows for replacement for $12, which is where that amount comes from. It’s not clear to me whether you can get the glasses replaced more than once under that warranty. If not, you’re effectively paying about $36 per pair.

Maui Jim makes excellent and expensive glasses and offers a “repair service” for life for (I believe) $50 an occurrence. In reality they just send you a new pair. I’ve used it 3 or 4 times.

My vision isn’t what it used to be but it’s still good enough I don’t need anything better than cheap sunglasses. I think my record for holding on to them is about 3 days. There must be someplace online I could order a bag of sunglasses for $1 a pop, I should just do that. If I had a bag of 100 pairs of shades and wore them every day they might last a year.

Another long-time Maui Jim fan here–I’ve taken advantage of the warranty service 4 or 5 times since buying my first pair more than 20 year ago. Like everything else, the price has gone up for warranty repairs–they used to charge $8.95 for processing/shipping and a minimal amount for repair/replacement. The last time I sent my Typhoons in for a broken earpiece they informed me the model had been discontinued, what a drag! BUT…the customer service person I talked to was able to find the very last pair in the warehouse. I’ve been nursing those sunglasses for a decade now.

I think I go through so many cheap sunglasses because they are cheap and scratch easily. I’m hoping if I upgrade to a better quality optics, they would last longer. And if there is a warranty that allows me to replace them, that’s even better. I’ll have to look into Shady Rays and see how it stacks up to del Sol.
