I moved this year and have most of my worldly effects in 2 10’x15’ lockers at a local storage facility. The stuff needs inventorying before I make the next move, but there is only lighting in the hallways and no power outlets. I’d want hands-free, battery-operated lighting with decent brightness. Has anybody anything to recommend?
Would a headlamp work or are you thinking something to light the whole locker at once?
I’d say, a CFL lantern that you could take with you to use as an emergency light, if you need to light the whole place up. If you get a stick-on-the-wall kind of light, there’s no guarantee you’re going to be able to place it where you need it, so a lantern that you can move around within the locker would be handier.
CFL sounds like the thang. Will check it out. Thanks.
you can get LED headlamps with 3 to 9 bright LEDs and 1 very bright LED. this may be all you need.
you can also get LED trouble lights with maybe 20 LEDs that have a magnet/hook/easel mount. lots of choices. i have a vertical one that has rechargeable batteries/disposable batteries/crank power with a magnet/hook/circular base mount and 3 banks of 6 LEDs that can all point one direction or 6 in each 120 degrees for a full circle of light.
I have one of these LED Lanterns. You can find them at lower prices than this website.
It’s a cool product, pretty bright as a lantern, and you can remove each of the 4 panels to direct light exactly where you want, the panels stand up on their own. The light is a bit harsh if it’s the only light source you have.
I have friends who wound up with LED headlamps during Sandy, and raved about them, easy to use, you hardly have to think about them, and the light is always where you are looking.
Since this question will gather opinions, let’s move from GQ toIMHO.

In my storage unit I strung a rope across and hung a LED langtern from it. That way I could slide it around a bit to direct light where I needed it. A headlamp is also good.
Ended up with one LED. May get a couple more. We’ll see if we see.
