“Who Are You,” by World Party on the Dumbing Up album, finally released in the U.S. Note perfect.
Blinded by the Light.
“Polka Dot Undies” by Bowser & Blue.
“A Public Execution” by Mouse and the Traps
“17 Miles from Waukeegan My Cantelope Died” by the Harvard Lampoon.
If you guys want to play that game, I’ll raise with Paul Simon’s “A Simple Desultory Philippic.”
I was serious in the OP, BTW. It’s really good.
What I came in to say.
OTOH, “Tweeter and the Monkeyman” is the best Bruce song written by Dylan.
Catch the Wind by Donovan.
Bruce?
“Episode of Blonde,” Elvis Costello
Another vote for “Bob”
now I see bees I won!
Will check out the song in the OP.
Surprised noone has chimed in with Hide Your Love Away by John Lennon. What Dylan would sound like if he wanted to chart.
Lennon, like the young Paul Simon, often mistook self-pity for honesty. “Hide Your Love Away” may have a folky quality on the surface, but there’s very little that’s Dylanesque about it.
I may be loopy, but I think the Beatles’ most Dylanesque song, at least thematically/lyrically, is “Eleanor Rigby.”
Patty Griffin’s Cold As It Gets.
“My Bucket’s Got A Hole in It” by Hank Williams
“You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” by Lennon & McCartney.
“Redemption Song” by Bob Marley
Nobody has taken pity on our poor guest?
“Blinded By the Light” was a song on Bruce Springsteen’s first album. It may be better known in the cover version done by Manfred Mann.
In either one it doesn’t sound to me the tiniest bit like a Dylan song any more than the Beatles songs mentioned do.
“Bob” is pretty funny, though. It was new to me. Thanks for linking to it.
