I’ve heard it said that Desire is the favorite Dylan album for people who don’t really like Dylan. I guess it’s true. It’s definitely the only Dylan album I’ve listened to all the way through.
Actually; I voted Nashville Skyline, but probably prefer his ridiculous Christmas album overall. I like him best when he takes himself least seriously.
Interesting. Desire did not make my cut, but when Blood on the Tracks (1975) and Desire (1976) came out in two consecutive years, I was in Dylan Heaven. Those albums probably made up 50% of my album listening time during those two years.
My Desire highlights: Oh Sister, Sara, One More Cup of Coffee, and, especially, Isis,
As for this poll, I really cannot vote, sorry. As I said in the first thread, my own favorite Dylan albums which I consider his masterpieces are “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan”, “Bringing It All Back Home”, “Highway 61 Revisited”, “Blonde On Blonde” and “Blood On The Tracks”. I’m unable to pick one of those, because every choice would belittle the other ones which wouldn’t be fair. So I leave it at that.
