A great song about the moment when someone breaks up with you unexpectedly is “Tuesday” by the Bacon Brothers (lead singer Kevin Bacon). The gist is, this was not supposed to happen today - it was supposed to be like every other day, then all of a sudden, their whole world got yanked out from them unexpectedly.
I’m sorry, I can’t find a link to it - it’s a great song, though. Maybe you can find it and take a listen on iTunes or something.
Mine is So Soon by Marianas Trench. I love it because it’s so petty. It’s a simple, and real, premise: I know I wasn’t good enough for you and we should have broken up. I don’t care. I’m miserable and you should be too.
I know sometimes I only twist you
And maybe I’m too proud to say I missed you.
But what if here and now I tell you that I’m all figured out?
Or maybe I just like how that sounds.
I know we said it’s just as well
That I won’t keep you for myself.
But I don’t want to see you happy with somebody else.
Why can’t you just be lonely?
Why can’t you just be lonely?
I know you need someone, too
But this just feels so soon.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen your face
So long since I’ve been to first base.
I really miss the feel of your kiss
But can I have back my things before I get really pissed?
