Gotcha, Eve, though I’d argue that Mary Tyler Moore was far closer a direct ancestor to Murphy. Rose Marie was maybe a maiden aunt. And, sadly, she was a physical wreck by the time that Murphy Brown came along especially compared to the elegant Colleen Dewhurst, who is only a year younger.
The weird thing is that Rose Marie played Frank’s mother on one episode.
