Best Damned Moments at the Movies

I also have to say The Matrix. Oh man, that was a fast 2 hours. The techno music really added to it. I also like the metal detector scene. That and in the scene, you will notice that trinity brings only one gun. Neo has to cheat with aboot 8. I love that movie…

Towards the end of 2001, HAL starts going on and on about having been designed/built at the University of Illinois. I went to Northern Illinois University, the U of I’s little country cousin. The people who went to NIU couldn’t afford the U of I. (Bitter? Nah.) When HAL makes that statement, people hiss.

How 'bout the parade scene in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, with everyone joining in dancing?

The Dude’s dream sequence in The Big Lebowski.

The “SHOPLIFTER!” scene in Empire Records

I like the parts of movies where you know a beat down is predetermined, but want to see it anyway. Like in ‘Godfather’ when the Don was shot and just when you found out he lived, you knew a world of hurt was coming down on some poor fool.

Or ‘Henry V’ in the beginning when the messenger from the French kind tells Henry he savors too much of his youth and will never reclaim his lands in France…ohhhhh you just knew he was going to throw down.

I think wrath is my favorite of the seven deadlies and I like to see to it in full view.

From Return of the Living Dead (the one with Emilio Estevez and About halfway through the movie, when the cannibal zombies have essentially taken over downtown Louisville, a lone ambulance comes to the rescue. In a terrifying moment, a quick snack is made of the two paramedics, and one of the undead has an idea. He gets on the radio to dispatch, and says: “Send… More… Paramedics.”

I never got to see the Crying Game. It isn’t that I was really looking forward to seeing it, but it’s true that I probably would have eventually.

Until someone spoiled it for me by telling me: “You know…I thought HE was pretty hot. Now I’m wondering if I’m gay.”

Thanks. Thanks a lot.

It’s a great scene. I’ve mentioned in several threads that this is my favorite movie.

My World History class must have sucked by comparison, because I never got to see films like The Lion in Winter in it. At least my American History class showed some good stuff: Gone With the Wind, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and Young Mr. Lincoln.

in Tombstone when they are all walking to the OK corral for the shootout…man do they look badass!
