Why? You can get plastic jars (so breakage isn’t a problem) - pick one with a foil inner seal and spillage isn’t so likely - and when required, the jar doesn’t need to be eaten all in one sitting.
One of the things that annoys me about all these food ration bars is it’s darn near impossible to find out what goes into some of them. Not a concern for most in emergencies, I know, but my food allergies don’t recognize emergencies. I have nightmares of starvation “relieved” by anaphyllaxis with a post-apocalyptic lack of medical care.
Although yes, some of them do list ingredients.
I made a “hobo stove” awhile back, which is nicely lightweight and also acts as a container for emergency heating/lighting/cooking supplies. Really, though, the heaviest item in bug-out bag is likely to be water, which is even more necessary than food. I’ve actually gone a week without eating. It’s not fun (probably even less fun in my case as I was deathly ill at the time) but it’s survivable. Going without water that long will almost certainly be fatal.
Don’t forget to pack water!
Quite right. And maybe an eyedropper bottle (clearly labelled) of hypochlorite bleach - can be used to kill pathogens in water of uncertain drinkability (as well as many other uses)
