For the record, my favorite has always been “Yesterday’s Enterprise”. I’m also a big fan of “Remember Me” and “Face of The Enemy”…But…but…“Best of Both Worlds”…“Redemption”…“Unification”…aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
::Head Explodes::
What do you think??
I think my favorite is “The Inner Light.” I’m a big Data fan though, so most of the episodes featuring Data I also really, really, really like (“Masks” or whatever was terrible though).
Gotta give a nod to “Relics”, if only for the re-appearance of “Scottie”.
I also love any episode with “Q” in.
I always think of “The Inner Light” and “The Measure of A Man”. But there’s another episode – the title escapes me – where the Enterprise is drawn to Romulan territory just outside the Neutral Zone for some reason.
It turns out that the Enterprise was lured there by subtefuge, and it was all to capture Starfleet’s flagship. When the Romulans surround the Enterprise and all is lost, Picard tells some Klingons to de-cloak. He actually made a battle plan and followed through with it. I was impressed.
Argh, I think it was the last episode (most likely mistaken) where Picard is moving back and forth through 3 different time periods and has to do all types of crazy crap to restore the timeline to where it was supposed to be without unmaking humanity. It involved anti-time. Great episode.
Can’t remember the episode title, but my all-time favorite ep was about a renegade Romulan who betrayed the Empire to the Federation and then committed suicide - I believe his betrayal was in an attempt to save his daughter. I only saw it once, so I’m foggy on the details, but I was blown away by the “good Romulan” and his brand of honor.
“The Measure of a Man” was a great one, too (I love it when Riker shuts Data off) and I’m also very fond of the one in which the Enterprise encounters an asexual race and one of them is “deprogrammed” for trying to be female. Riker was ridiculous in that one, but I watched it with a friend who is a bit homophobic, and I loved watching his synapses misfire all over the place as he tried to reconcile his version of right and wrong with his beloved TNG.
Stories like that is what makes me love Star Trek so damn much.
I don’t know the titles, but the one that sticks with me is the one where Picard lived an alternate life. Very touching.
My favorite is the one where Geordi and Ro get “phased” so that they can walk through walls and things - and end up reappearing at their own funeral.
“You’re saying I’m a blind ghost… with clothes?” -Geordi
That’s “The Inner Light” and is indeed the best TNG episode.
The Inner Light was good, no doubt.
But I always was fond of ‘Lower Decks’. Seeing the lead characters from the perspective of the gomers was great.
I like the ones with Deanna Troy’s mother, Loixana. The one where she befriends Warf’s son Alexander was a good one.
I especially liked the part where Loixana took Warf and Alexander to this place with mud baths. Warf’s comment, “You mean we just sit here?” was a classic.
I also like the one about the addictive “video game” that Riker brought from another culture.
I always rather liked “Data’s Day,” just to see the ST world for one day from one perspective. “Lower Decks” was good, too, for just this reason… from several perspectives.
Two of my favorites, though, were episodes that screwed with my head. I’ll never forget the one where the teaser had the Enterprise exploding, killing everyone aboard, BEFORE THE OPENING CREDITS!
The other one was the one where Worf, returning from a trip to the Klingon homeworld, aboard a shuttle, finds himself shifting between parallel worlds and parallel Enterprises every few hours…
I personally liked the three-episode arc where Picard is captured and assimilated by the Borg, eventually recovered, and then goes home to spend time with his family and get his head back together. His cathartic fight with his brother was very human indeed…
The episode where The Borg take Captain Picard and make him Locutus of Borg, and then The Enterprise has to battle the borg with the knowledge that Picard had.
“The Best of Both Worlds” and “I Borg”
Oh YEAH!!!
“Conundrum,” I believe, one of my favorites.
I also like “Lower Decks,” “Best of Both Worlds,” and most of my favorites come from teh 6th and 7th seasons.
I always like when Q comes on to F with Picard.
“The Inner Light” and “All Good Things…” are my two favorites of the series.
Oh my…this thread has made me want to spend the rest of my winter break watching TNG. I think it’s time for me to go pick up Season 5 on DVD, which was just full of wonderful episodes.
