Best ever recipe for scones

Actually, I remain an Alton virgin. I’d like to catch his show sometime though, as so many Doper Chefs have such good things to say about him. I only heard about him a couple of weeks ago via several threads here.

I wish I had the patience to watch cooking shows, but I just don’t. I used to like Julia Child, of course. But then I was…uh…a child.

It’s like Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye got married to Julia Child.

My god, these are horrible. Do not make them. They taste very strongly (VERY) strongly of baking powder. They have a nice texture, and they’re not dry and nasty, but uugh. Don’t. Just don’t.

This time of year I like to grate tangerines into the batter and make a sugar glaze with the tangerine gratings for the top. Uber yummy! And a seasonal hooray for scones!

Perhaps the recipe should have said 1 *teaspoon * of baking powder rather than 1 tablespoon?
