The Last Temptation of Christ
Which lines/words are repeated? Do the ends of the lines you’ve written correspond with the ends of the musical phrases?
Batman. It fits not only the movie, but the character perfectly.
Awwwww…Staaaaaar Waaaaaars…if they should baaaaar waaaars, please let theeeese staaaar waaaaars, stay. And hey how 'bout that nutty star wars bar…could you believe all the creatures in the-eeere, and hey, Darth Vader in that black and evil mask…did he scare you as much as he scared mee-eee-eee?
…the 1930’s had some great film scores. There was a composer named Korngold, who wrote scores for MGM…you can buy them on a CD called “THE SEA HAWK”.
Really beautiful music. I wonder if the movie industry of today has as much musical talent as in the past…most modern film scores don’t seem (to me) to be very well orchestrated.
The Rock - starring Sean Connery and Nic Cage - lovely music
Monty Python’s Search for the Holy Grail - great music
I thought of another one: PATTON. There is a really haunting theme in there.
Yes! A Jerry Goldsmith classic! That Patton score, (especially “Winter March”) haunted me when I first heard it. It was one of the first soundtracks I ever got. I then started collecting more Goldsmith soundtracks, and the rest is history.
Old, obscure, but worth hunting down: Alexander Nevsky, 1938, directed by Sergei Eisenstein, score by Prokofiev.
Requiem for a Dream
A Clockwork Orange (though not original)
Already been mentioned that I’m seconding/thirding/whatevering:
Glory
LOTR
Blade Runner
Majority of Elfman’s scores, esp. Pee Wee and Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands and… !!!
i second this… in fact, the only time i’ve ever heard prokofiev’s score was because the national symphony orchestra and washington choral society performed the score at wolftrap in vienna, virginia while the film was played on a huge screen… truly a stunning piece of music, and as this has become an en vogue way to hear music and see film, if this opportunity becomes available for this or any other piece of music in your area, i highly recommend checking it out… it’s wonderful to hear such beautiful music played live by an amazing orchestra while getting to see the film its associated with…
Woo, film music. I did a term paper for my Music History class on flim music. Mostly because all the other topics were taken.
I like a lot of John Williams, even though my Music History prof thought he was a hack who wrote pop-classical stuff to appeal to the masses. Eh, it’s pretty! I like Jurassic Park most definitely, and one that wasn’t mentioned – Gettysburg. :sigh: so pretty.
Anything by Eric Serra or Hans Zimmer, ESPECIALLY The Fifth Element and Gladiator.
Ghost in the Shell.
neon genesis evangelion had a pretty mediocre score, but it was used quite effectively.
