Best Martial art?

“Animal” Marc MacYoung makes the brilliant arguement that most Boxers can kick, well, punch, a karate master into the ground.

But an Akido (?) master will whip a boxer who commits his weight to a punch.

Now, a monkey stylist will demolish an akido (?) dude, but the boxer might do well against Monkey boy.

Massad Ayoob has some good things to say about Martial Arts, too.

Why wouldn’t you consider wrestling a martial art?? Traditional Greco-Roman style wrestling is one of the world’s oldest martial arts and can be very effective. A hybrid form of wrestling incorporating striking blows called Pankration was practiced in ancient Greece (and has been somewhat revived) and was an Olympic event, absolutely brutal. Savate or French kickboxing is neat, very fast and powerful. I myself took a couple years of an Okinawa form of karate called Isshin-Ryu but found it to be somewhat incompatible with my body type.
